Mary Ann, Thanks for answering. This is a huge mystery for me, and my interested cousins. The William J. Seaton (1833-1870) is the uncle of my gg grandmother, who was appointed her guardian, as well as her brother's. She was Zerilda Ann Clifton, (1845 Nilwood) and her brother was John Wesley Clifton (1846 Nilwood). They each inherited 100.00 from their grandfather John Seaton's estate. I don't think that was a small sum back then. Besides William, there was a wife or sister of John Sr., Lydia b. 1794 PA, and two other children Mary 1832 & John 1837. The census shows all three Seaton children born in OH, but they appear on the 1840 & 1850 census in IL. The mystery is not knowing what happened to the Clifton's, and a brother William Clifton who is not there in Nilwood, nor on the guardianship papers, appears in WV where he joins the Cav during the Civil War, and after settles down in Steubenville, OH. His records show him as having been born in Nilwood. I don't know who the William Seaton who was in the Civil War was, or Wells Seaton also buried there, and there's a Oren Lewis Seaton d. 1938 at Great Lakes Training Center in IL, buried Girard Cemetery. Or where the rest of the Seatons went to, or are buried. The answers to my puzzle are somewhere there in Macoupin Co, but being in WY, this is really frustrating! I appreciate any crumb of information. Faith
