    3. Hi Julie, Sorry I'm so slow answering. No problem about asking about your ancestor. The book is just an index which lists name, date of death, date of newspaper, age. The book has been out for quite a while. I have some notes that aren't included in the book. I'm sending what I have, as follows: Staunton Star Times, issue of Oct. 1, 1897, page 8. Jake Lang, born Oberriexingen, Wurtemburg, Germany. Died Sept. 29, 1897 at the age of 78 years. He died at the home of Leopold Schaefer. Cause of death was malaria fever. Rev. Stoerker conducted the funeral. He had five children; 3 in Ohio, 1 in Michigan and 1 in Wyoming. He came to Staunton about 8 weeks ago. He came here to visit his niece, Mrs. Schaefer. *From St. Paul's Evangelical church book: Name is Jacob Lang. Born Sept. 05, 1817; Born Ober Ricksinger, Wurtemberg, Germany. Buried September 30, 1897. Age 78 yrs. 24 days; buried Staunton City cemetery. p.s. I have distant cousins by the name of Lange in St. Louis but pronounced Lang, and another side of my relationship where my cousin Florence Schuette married a Lester Lange. He was from Edwardsville, IL. Probably not connected to your line, but I just found it interesting. Mary ------------------------------------------------------- Hi! I saw on the Macoupin Co. Rootsweb page that you have a book for sale of 1897 Staunton Times obituaries. I was hoping to get some additional information regarding this. Can you tell me if this book lists the complete obituaries or if it is an index? This is my situation--my great x3 grandfather, Jacob Lang, died in Staunton IL in October of 1897. Thanks for your time! Julie Christensen tjchrist@island.net
