    1. [ILMACOUP-L] Y2K Compliancy for hardware and software

    3. I am beginning to get questions on computers being Y2K compliant. Definition - any hardware and/or software showing and/or processing a YEAR DATE. I would say most or all large computer companies have their own domain as to the url code to get to their sites. Many of the newer computers are compliant. So, if you want to get to a company site, for example: Compaq computers, type in http://www.compaq.com and it will take you to the Compaq site and I found at the Compaq site a table for the different models showing the status of models beint Y2K compliant. http://www.compaq.com/year2000/year2000-cdp-htable.html Packard Bell, I typed in: http://www.packardbell.com At their site, I found this Y2K main page: http://support.packardbell.com/year2000/default.asp and a download to check your computer here: http://support.packardbell.com/year2000/affected.asp Note: Those were COMPUTERS. There are software problems, too. You better try some of your software brand sites, too. For instance Microsoft's Windows 98 program: Win 98 is said to be compliant, BUT not guaranteed 100%. Better go check the Microsoft site. And, I will stop there. If you have something to say to us on this, please try to put it in a 6th grade literacy so we can all understand. I KNOW we have some computer techie smart people on this list then there are the rest of us.<g> Gloria Frazier Macoupin County ILGenWeb CC West Plains MO
