If anyone is realted, I will gladly send you a photo copy....... "Shown above is LEVI CARMACK, born on the right fork of Buffalo, who died in 1933, at about 75 years old. HE was the son of JACOB and LIDDY ANN BURNS CARMACK who arrived in Owsley County in 1860. He married MARY BAKER, daughter of BOSTON BOB BAKER. LEVI made his living playing the fiddle. It is believed he is buried in the Horse Creek area of Clay County. If anyone knows where he is buried, contact TONY ROOT, 3771 Withrow Rd., Hamilton, OH 45011 -------this is on the page of the 1890 scrap book but appears to be a Today message------------------ ------------------------------------------ GILBERT--RODES WILLIAM GILBERT owned "Gilbert-town" NC, where Maj. FERGUSON camped before he fell back to King's Mountain. Gilbert was in the commission of peace, of old Tryon County, NC, then of Rutherford. He represented Rutherford in the NC House of Common, in 1780, '82, '83, and died before 1807. Was called Col. GILBERT. JAMES HOLLAND married SARAH GILBERT in June, 1780. He was sheriff of old Tryon County, NC, in 1777 and '78; was senator and representative from Rutherford County; was also congressman, etc., and moved to Tennessee in 1811, and died in 1822. He was called Maj. HOLLAND. Both GILBERT and HOLLAND are in Draper's "King's Mountain," where a foolish statement is made that "Gilbert was a lyalist," which supposition, I have since learned, rests simply on the fact that Ferguson camped at "Gilbert--town," as though an army ever quartered on its friends in an enemy's country! Gilbert was at that time in the patriot legislature. Information also on te RODES family, of Albemarle and Hanover County, VA. JOHN RODES, of Hanover County, born 1697, was the father of JOHN RODES, of Albemarle, born 1729. His son, TYREE RODES, came to Tennessee in 1807--09. Many descendants live in Kentucky and Missouri. ------------------------------------------------- remember this scrapbook is over 100 yrs old.
