The Macoupin County Historical Society will hold their Spring Festival on May 29 & 30, 1999 at the Museum Grounds on Breckenridge Street in Carlinville, IL. There will be almost 200 craft booths and several demonstrations, including weaving, whittling, sheep shearing, wheat threshing, blacksmithing, basketry to name a few. The mansion/museum is open for tours for donations of $2.00 per adult and $1.00 for child. Admission to the Festival is free. We have a one room school house and another building filled with antiques for touring. The Agriculture Club will have various antique tractors and machinery on display. The Blacksmith Shop is also very interesting to observe. Entertainment of guitarists, barber shop quartet, strolling minstrels, is also provided. Food served will include chicken and noodles with homemade biscuit, BBQ sandwiches, and Illinois grown (not California or Mexico contaminated) strawberries freshly picked and hulled with homemade shortcake. MMMmm Good! ----------------- I have attended this festival a time or two and it is great! Food is superb and the people very friendly.
