Mary McKenzie got this query. Can anyone help the person out on Dillon Gallery?? Thanks. gf ***************** Date: Sat, 16 Oct 99 15:48:15 PDT From: X1y2z@aol.com To: smckenzi@midwest.net Subject: A question about Virden Ill in 1866 Dear Mary, I noticed a post about pictures a lady had that were done by a George W Dillon of Virden Il. I have a picture of John Myers , a physician, who had his picture taken supposedly in 1866 just befre he went to Oregon. It says on the back of that picture from Dillon's Gallery, East Side Public Square, Virden, Ills I did not expect John Myers to be in Virden when he got married in Whiteside Ill and had two older kids in Ill and two youger ones in Iowa. My grandmother had written down that John Myers's son Frank was born in Verdum, Iowa, a place I have been searching for. I never connected the Virden Ill to Verdum Iowa until yesterday. So I now want to find out was there ever another Virden Ills that disaapeared ? Or was there a George Dillon that took pictures in 1866 in this Virden Ill? I didn't notice my John H Myers, physician or any George Dillin the 1860 census online. By 1870 my John H Myers is in Portland Ore listed as F J Meyers with the correct wife and family. It would really help to find out if there ever was a Dillon Gallery in Virden Ill. Thankyou for you trouble, Joy Benemann
