Gwen, The present Catholic church in Virden is Sacred Heart this is the one on Springfield St. and Union Avenue I think that Rev. Father Speril is the resident Priest. The old Catholic church was called St. Catherine's and it disbanded sometime in the late 1930s or 1940s. My Mother grew up about a half block away from Sacred Heart and attended Mass Daily with her siblings (the Madiar family).
