    3. Don't know if you ever got a reply to your question or not. Illinois is not a common-law marriage state - don't believe that it ever was. I work for Social Security and one of the issues that we sometimes have to determine is common-law marriages. Very few States recognize common-law. Some have in the past but do not do so currently. I finally remembered to check our manuals today.
