    3. Hi Joanne, Just one idea here, which may or may not pay off. You might consider writing to the County Clerk of both Madison & Macoupin counties, and ask if they have probate records for your Jesse B. EDWARDS. Since you have his year of death, that should not be a problem for them to check. Probate is always done in the county wherein the person died, so if he was visiting his Aunt Mamie in Alaska, you won't find at home, but Madison and Macoupin should be able to tell you if they have his records. As for his wife, with no death year, that could be a bit more complicated, but ask anyway! I don't know what sort of cost they would ask, maybe nothing for the records check, and a few bucks if they find the records, but I've done such things elsewhere and it's never exhorbitant. Also I've always gotten a response within a couple weeks or so, rather than getting stuck waiting for months. The Midwest counties have always been very friendly to me. I'm sorry I don't have the addresses for the Macoupin or Madison county clerks handy, but they should not be hard to find, probably on the respective GenWeb pages. So give that probate search a shot, and hopefully you will get lucky with one county or the other. Happy hunting!
