Hello, I'm researching primarily SCHAEFER and CALKUM in Macoupin County. My gr-grandmother, Catherine Schaefer, was orphaned as a small child and she and her younger sister, Anna Marie (Mary), and her younger brother, William, were raised by Schaefer uncles in Carlinville. Catherine married Hubert Calkum in Carlinville in 1890. Mary married (1) Joseph KAUFMANN in 1889 and (2) Albert KUERSCHEN in 1892. William married Margaret DARSCHEID in 1896. Other related surnames are WEAVER, FIREHAMMER, HILGER, SCHARTZ, and KLINGER.
