Linda, I have been following the discussions on Kansas and decided to see if you have a Lorenzo D. Gilbert in your book. In the 1870 census he and his wife, Emiline, and family were living in Douglas Co., IL. In 1880 she and the children are back in Jasper Co., IL with her father, Jacob Diel. For about 10 years I have been unable to find out what happened to Lorenzo. This is just a shot in the dark but who knows. Also to anyone interested, some folks migrated north. My grandfather, Alfred Sparks, was a blacksmith in Chesterfield and moved to Flint, MI to find work about 1927-28. His family followed him there. Thanks, Pat
