    3. I think this might help you, too, John Sissom. I found these on this listed at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilmacoup/m_irad.htm MACOUPIN DEATH RECORD 1877 1901 UIS 4/0309/02 MACOUPIN DEATH RECORD INDEX 1877 1910 UIS 4/0309/01 IRAD isn't expensive at all (like 10 cents to 50 cents a sheet - maybe a minimum of 50 cents or $1, anyway it is cheap). http://www.sos.state.il.us/depts/archives/serv_loc.html#fees You might want to call (do call - best way) IRAD or write. All addresses are here: http://www.sos.state.il.us/depts/archives/iradaddr.html This is the address for Macoupin records at IRAD I took from the site above: UIS Illinois Regional Archives Depository LIB144 University of Illinois at Springfield P.O. Box 19243 Springfield, IL 62794-9243 Telephone: (217) 206-6520 Hours: Monday – Friday, except state holidays 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Search IRAD for other Macoupin or other IL county records here: http://www.sos.state.il.us/depts/archives/iradsrch.html If you don't get all the information you want from the death index (1877-1910) which IRAD has above, after you get the date and number off the index, I thinkkkkkk you should be able to call the county courthouse to get a copy of the death certificate itself. County Clerk Macoupin County Courthouse PO Box 107 Carlinville, IL 62626 217-854-3214 A copy of death cert from the courthouse is $7 each. http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilmacoup/m_write.htm#cntybirdea The Illlinois State Archives has a Death Record Index and Certificates for the years 1916-1944: This index on microfiche is by last name. You can request a listing of all of one surname and review it. You can only ask for 2 surnames at one time. The listing will be for ALL of Illinois. Probably 50 cents each microfiche but see new rules for copying charges which probably include microfiche. Write to: Illinois State Archives Margaret Cross Norton Building Springfield, Illinois 62756 Phone: 217-782-3556 or Phone: 217-782-4682 For death certificates 1916-1944 - if you have the person's full name and death date, you can request a copy of the death certificate at this email address: <secwhite@ccgate.sos.state.il.us>. Allow 4 to 6 weeks. He died in 1904 or 1905 in Staunton. Rudolph Moran was in his early twenties when he died. Can you help me with information on his birth date and place? Rudolph may have changed his name to Moran from Moarn. I also think he had relation in Coal City Illinois. John Moran
