    3. Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery is in Hettick, S. Palmyra Twp. My grandparents, Jonathan & Irettie Stewart and other kin are buried there. A very long time ago I came across something about a Gilead "settlement", but I can't pinpoint where, so I might be remembering wrong. I suppose that could mean that members of the Church lived in the same surrounding area? If there was it might have been just a little NW of Hettick, maybe in Barr Twp. but its not listed. My grandparents lived in Barr Twp. just NW of Hettick when raising their family and belonged to this Church. The village of Hettick is split between S. Palmyra Twp. and Barr Twp. In the 1837 IL Gazeteer it lists only a Gilead in Calhoun Co. I do think that "Gilead" is a common name for a Baptist Church, but I could stand to be corrected.
