Does anyone have a time line of when the northern Macoupin County townships were first formed and given names? Was North Palmyra always separate from South Palmyra? North Otter from South Otter? Virden from Girard? When was Nilwood Township first named? I looked in one of the Macoupin County history books and couldn't find suitable answers to these questions. I would think that since the townships were/are political entities within the county that they had to be created by the county government at some time or another. Dwayne Wrightsman
