A Cody Hatlen Memorial has been started at the Carlinville Library. In the 15 years Cody was here with us, he set the bar high on what it means to be a volunteer. The Carlinville Library Board met and discussed how best to honor and memorialize Cody Hatlen, who volunteered so many hours in the Library's Genealogy Room. They decided to set up a scholarship in Cody's name for an outstanding volunteer each year, someone beyond merely volunteering a few hours here and there, in short, someone like Cody. The library has already received some money, including a sizable one from a woman in Connecticut helped by Cody, and the Library has made its donation also. Checks should be made payable to the Carlinville Public Library, with a notation on the "memo" (or subject) line to indicate Cody Hatlen Mem. or Hatlen Mem. Please mail it to: Carlinville Public Library, Attention Elizabeth Kaburick, 510 N. Broad Street, Carlinville, IL 62626. Any donation would be acknowledged. If you want a name other than your own, as signed, to be included in an acknowledgement, please include a note to that effect. Any amount will be appreciated - a few dollars and up.
