My Great Grandfather Wehling went from Staunton to St. Louis in 1854 and was married by Pastor Picker (?) of the Luth. church. My Great Grandmother was 14 at the time. It was reported that people would come from as far away as 75 miles to be married there. Although how many churches were in the area of Macoupin in 1854?
