NC , Lydia B., 10 , Phebe E., 7 , Minna M., 4 , Lemuel D., 2 I find Elisha & Carolyn in the 1900 Census record, living in Howell, Missouri. Bentley, Elisha, 60, b. Aug 1839 IL, M. 36 yrs, Parents born NY / Vermont , Caroline, 52, b. Oct 1845 IL, 12 kids born, 7 living, Parents born NC / NC , Lane D [Lem]., 22, b. Apr 1878 IL, Son Keen, Chas. A., 23, b. June 1876 IL, Sister-in-law , Fannie, 19, b. June 1880, M. 5 yrs, 2 kids born, 1 living Bentley, Laura A., 13, b. Aug 1886, Daughter , Clara R., 8, b. Aug 1891IL, Daughter Keen, Myrtle [Martia], 2, Apr 1898 IL, Grand Daughter Obviously, Chas A. can not be anybody's sister-in-law. It maybe should say son-in-law. I also find Caroline in the 1910 Census, living with her son in Navarro, TX. Bentley, L. D., 32, b. IL, single , Carolyn, 64, b. IL, widow, Mother, 10 kids born, 7 living Sawyer, Laura A., 23, b. IL, Married 2 yrs, Sister Bentley, Clara, 18, b. IL, single, Sister Carolyn said both her parents were born in NC. By 1920, Carolyn is not found. I would suggest she died in Texas between 1910 - 1920. Elisha maybed died in Missouri, bet 1900 - 1910. In 1920, L. D. Bentley is still in Navarro, Texas. Bentley, L. D., 41, b. IL , Dena Bentley, 18, wife, b. TX, parents b. Georgia , Odie, 11/12ths There are lots of indexing errors with this family. Just a note to all the Sawyer relations on this list. When the new year starts, I will be asking for updated family information to update my mom's Sawyer family book. Marvyl Powelson and others will be helping gather the corrected/updated information.
