The 1875 Macoupin County Atlas shows T. Silberzahn owning 40 acres in Section 9 and 40 Acres in Section 10 [next to each other] with the house in Section 10. Dear Marita, Linda, Sharon, and Gloria ! Thank you all very much for the information you kindly provided I am related to a Michael Silberzahn who lived in a northern suburb of Chicago (Niles Center). I know WHERE he lived, WHEN he died, but I have absolutely NO idea from whence he came, other than Baden, nor any names of siblings. In an effort to determine the unknown, I am trying to obtain Silberzahn info in general - with hopes of finding even the smallest of links. I have inquired with the Cook County list, the Baden list, Rootsweb surname list, GeneaNet, Kindred Kousins, and reviewed FamilySearch.org - it seems ol' Mike just...."poof"...appeared from nowhere! Thank you again! Tom "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." Matthew 11:28-29 NIV
We do have them in Polk Twp. in both 1870 and 1880. I also found a second marriage for Thomas, to Mrs. Sophia Zaepfel Hassis, on 22 Oct 1889 in Macoupin Co. I do not find any death record for his first wife Mary in the pre-1916 IL death records online: http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/archives/databases.html I can check in our cemetery book collection on Friday at our Archives to see if any of them are in any Polk Twp. Cemetery. I find in the online Naturalizations lists an item for Thomas Silberzahn, in a volume covering 1854-1897. The procedure to obtain a copy of this document or these documents is to send a check payable to me for $10.00, the price set by the Circuit Clerk to whom we report. It should be mailed to Linda Kmiecik at 18310 Blackhawk Drive, Girard, IL 62640-8603. We have moved all the Naturalization books over to the Macoupin Co. Archives. Formerly half were at the Courthouse and half at the Archives. You should take a look at the other items at the Macoupin Co. ILGenWeb page, whose url is listed below. Is it possible that you can find naturalization papers for Joseph Pocklington Lawrence who arrived in the US in 1852, from England? Please let me know. That is two different questions. First question: Does anyone know a contact/board member for the Loomis cem? http://www.macoupinctygenealogy.org/cemetery/loomis.html Lady has questions on future burials in the cem. There is a pic of the "Donation" stone on the top of the website. If you don't know the contact, do you know any of the donors listed on the stone that someone could be called? Second question: Does anyone have a 1910 or 1920 Plat map with land owners of Nilwood Twp? If you do, could you scan it and send it to me? Thanks. Gloria
I would appreciate if someone could check the Illinois State Genealogy Society Quarterly (ISGS) Volume 30, Number 4 Winter 1998 issue. There is an article about a Husky Family Bible. I am VERY interested in what this says. I have been told the article is 11 pages and the Huskey Bible is 2 pages. I think is it is on page 204. A scanned copy would make me very Happy.
