I deleted the message sent in the past two days about Priscilla Conlee, which give her burial in Waverly. Would someone still have it? Thanks Marita Gladson, M.A. MFT Exec. One other possibility comes to mind. "Sanona" seems a very unusual name. Do you have other instances of it for her? Perhaps someone mis-transcribed "Lanora", which may have been a census-taker's attempt at "Elenora" or "Leonora" or something along those lines. Marsha L. Yes that is my family. Thank you for taking the time to go back an check of other information. I joined DAR on this line. The 1870 census says Martha was adopted so I am guessing the same for Sanora. The death you give for Priscilla is what I have, so guess she didn't remarry. That then leaves Marsha's idea that both girls died of TB or something els. I love helping researchers if I can but slowing down. Have a bit of eye strain but enjoy it. I did the 1845 by myself after Linda recd permission. Marita typed the patentee pages. I used my digital camera and took pics of all of the book pages. You can enlargen the pages to read them. Had a lot of volunteer help on the 1840 tax book. It was done in 2000, I scanned the pages and volunteers typed the index. Linda R. F. Arnold, Loretta Beeuwsaert, Carolynn Bettis, Patti Breaux, Gloria Frazier, Carolyn Gibbons, Marlene Johnson, Linda Kmiecik, Sue McMurry, Mary Mayo, Pam Ripplinger, Melissa Robards, Yvonne Stedman, Elizabeth Lentz Wood(deceased) If I can just get those 1840 land description pages up.......someday According to the 1840 tax book, as I see, Benj didn't own land in Macoupin, maybe? Deed indexes would say for sure. See him in the 1845. Thanks for your kind comment. Gloria At 10:40 PM 8/12/2009, you wrote: >Gloria, >Thanks much - it's great to have those tax records available. Perhaps Priscilla remarried, and the two younger girls are living with her but incorrectly listed with their step-father's surname. Or perhaps TB carried them off. Just worked on a family this week that lost three children to TB between 1924 and 1931. Marsha L. I don't know about plat books but we just put up the 1845 tax assessor book (not proofread): http://www.macoupinctygenealogy.org/1845tax/index.html includes land descriptions. and I am in the process of adding land description pages to the 1840: http://www.macoupinctygenealogy.org/1840tax/index.html Too busy wayyyy back when to add them. LOL, I will take a stab at it. The NE 1/4 of the NE 1/4 of Sec 9, of TWP 9N, Range 8W of 3rd PM [40 acres] And The NW 1/4 of the NW 1/4 of Sec 10, TWP 9N, Range 8W of 3rd PM [40 acres] Thomas Silberzahn stated he immigrated in 1858, so there would be nothing before then. Also, his wife, Mary/Maria immigrated in 1857 suggesting that they were married in the USA. Also, the cemetery records show J. T. Silberzahn [assume it is J. Thomas]. I have seen John and Jacob as given names and most of my German ancestors used a middle name as a given name. Thot the names at the time were the most important. Otherwise, the deed indexes at the courthouse would be the surefire way of getting land descriptions.
