Hi Gloria, Wow, that was quick! Well, thank you very much for such a prompt response. This is indeed the Bronaugh's I wanted, and it does show that their nephew Thomas was not with them at that time, either as Poindexter or Bronaugh. Hmm, wonder where the little devil could have been ... Anyhow, THANK you so much for your reply! Boy, I just love the Lists! Thanks again, and best regards to you and yours, Gloria Atwater At 10:40 PM 3/14/99 -0600, you wrote: >I think just one township transcribed and can be bought from >Littleton Bradley for 1880 and that happens to be Virden Twp. >http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilmacoup/m_bksale.htm > >No Poindexter in Virden Twp for 1880 >The only BRONAGHs I found in the Virden Twp 1880 Census. > >190/203 (Dey Street) >BRONAUGH >John, M,65,Grain Merchant, VA,VA,Va >Louisa,F,58,Wife,House Keeper, KY, VA, NC >HAND >Lena,F,32,Servant,KY,Ger,Ger > >190/204 >BRONAUGH >James,M,32,Grain Merchant, IL,VA,KY >Amelia, F,30,Wife,House Keeper,KY,KY,KY >BLACK >Magie (Black) F, 14, Servant, KY,KY,KY
Hi Y'all! I'm new to the list, and hoping someone here can do me a HUGE favor. Is there anyone on this list with access to the 1880 Macoupin Co. census? I would very much like to locate the family of John M. & Louisa BRONAUGH, who probably lived in or near Virden. They were a prominent family there for some years, but I would really, truly love to know who is in the household with them, ages, places of birth, anything else available. In particular I am hoping to shed some light on the whereabouts of their nephew, Thomas S. POINDEXTER, who is said to have been living with his aunt Louisa Bronaugh at that time. He was born in Oregon, but sent to live with relatives for a while would have been about age 15 or 16. It is possible he was using the name Thomas or Tommy Bronaugh, but I really don't know. Anyhow, if anyone can lookup the John M. BRONAUGH family in 1880 Macoupin Co., I would be forever grateful. I live way out in the State of Nevada, in a rural area, so it's kind of hard for me to do this census stuff.... Thanks so much! Gloria Atwater Gardnerville, NV

If you haven't heard, Ancestry has put online, for subscribers only, all of the Accelerated Indexing Systems (AIS) published census indexes. These represent hundreds of printed books and cover heads of households in all of the censuses from 1790 to 1860, and some of 1870 and 1880, along with a few tax lists and state censuses. They can be searched by name or Soundex. http://www.ancestry.com/ancestry/search.asp Also some free searches here without being a member. A quarterly membership is only $19.95. Probably the best way to get this to members of the Macoupin County Genealogical Society who are online is to put it here. And, we will get a notice on a page or two. If you are a member of MCGS and have turned in surnames, look at last year's surname list at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilmacoup/m_gensur.htm If you have corrections to that list, mail to: Mary McKenzie <smckenzi@midwest.net> The MCGS needs these as soon as possible because the April issue will include the updates sent in if you get them in on time. Even if you have recently sent in your updates and those might be on Cindy's old broken puter, might want to send to Mary anyway. If you aren't a member of the MCGS, join with the form at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilmacoup/m_gsform.htm Note: Publications on this form need updated. Sorry for the delay. If you are a member, don't forget to renew your subscription. Please support MCGS. And, if anyone can help Cindy with her Mac, she prob would appreciate it. That is a foreign language for me. Gloria ps Hopefully Cindy doesn't get the flu from hell like I had. I remember second time around at Best Buy, we finally got a new hard drive. Yep, pretty frustrating. So many have written about this line I will post it to the list. Green Washington Farrar was born in TN to William Farrar and Elizabeth Brekeen Green Washington Farrar married Laura Sinclair on April 24, 1824 in Robertson Co., TN (no other information about the Sinclair name. She was born in germany on Aug. 15 1855. Her father was Henry Diesel. The story is that Henry(no mention of mother) brought his family to Carlinville. He soon took the sons back to Germany, but left the two girls with a foster family. He never returned for them. My grandmother always told us that Henry had invented the Diesel engine, but his nephew had stole the idea and had patented it. I have the Farrar line pretty well proven back to William Farrar, b. 1594 in England. there is a lot of controversy about this line, but I have a cousin that has done a great deal of work on it...and her reasoning sounds good to me. I would like to know more about the Diesel family, either to prove or disprove the story. I know that William Franklin always hated his father, but I would like to know what happened to George Washington Farrar. Lucinda LeGate Shinn, carney, OK

Debbie, The divorce file can be a large file, and can be expensive to get the whole file. When I was at the court house, they suggested the Final Decree. This usually shows the names of the divocing couple, any minor children, division of property, etc. The one I have is only two pages. Hi Matt, I was beginning to think I was the only one looking in Mt. Olive! Grin! No, I do not have any Viehweg/Viehveg's in my line. But I have walked the Cemetery in Mt. Olive, more than once. I do have the Cemetery book and in Union Miners Cemetery, there are 15 Viehweg's (youngest one b. 1911, oldest b. 1868). All are spelled VIEHWEG. Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery (across the road from Union Miners) has 2. And Calvary has 1. There are just 2 Dworsack's in Union Miners (none in the others). William, b. 1889, d. 1890 and Frank, b. 1890, d. 1919 (Pvt 26th Co Casual Det USA). Hope this helps, Sharon Buethner > Hi folks, > > I have just come across this item from the Mt.
