    3. A lady wrote to me, quoting, "I recently purchased an antique pie safe from an auction. When I began getting it ready to refinish I found written inside on the side wall - H. Bros, Carlinville, IL. I would like to find out who owned the business. I wasn't able to find anything upon looking in this site. But not knowing what the H may have stood for has made it harder to look. Could you steer me in a direction to look or possibly you are aware of the furniture stores that were in Carlinville so long ago. Any information would be greatly appreciated." I told her that I think it is for Heinz Bros Furniture and it is still in Carlinville. Anyone with different knowledge of other furniture stores of "so long ago?" Thank you. gloria

    1. [ILMACOUP] James Draper and Elizabeth Davidson, 12 Sept 1844 marriage
    2. Mary Douglass
    3. James Draper married Elizabeth Davidson, 12 Sept 1844 in Macoupin County Illinois. Who are their parents? James Draper's father gave consent for the minor James Draper to marry, but his name was not given on the consent. There is an older James Draper living in the county. Elizabeth names her first born son Moses. There are several Davidson families in the county, one of whom is headed by Moses Davidson. But there are other Davidson men of an age to be her father. 1850 Illinois Federal census, population schedule, Macoupin County, page 308 [stamped] 609 [written], dwelling 8, family 8, household of James Draper, age 24, farmer, born Ohio; Elizabeth Draper, age 25, born Ohio; Moses Draper, age 5, born Illinois, Elizabeth J. Draper, age 4, born, Illinois, Mary A. Draper, age 2, born Illinois, Sarah E. Draper age 3/12 born Illinois. 1860 Iowa Federal census, populations schedule, Marion County, Pleasant Grove Township, page 74, dwelling 527, family 494, Elizabeth Draper household, includes Moses, age 14, born Illinois, Elisabeth J. Draper age 13, born Illinois, Mary A. Draper, age 12, born Illinois, James W. Draper, age 6, born Illinois, George W. age 4, born Iowa, Justin Arnett, age 26 farm land. Family moved from Illinois to Iowa between 1854 and 1856. According to a query posted February 10, 2001 by Martin Draper on the Macoupin County Illinois web site, James died young [about 1854-1856] and his widow moved the children with her mother to Iowa to be near her brother, Daniel Davidson. Elizabeth moved between 1854 and 1856. 1. Re: [ILMACOUP] Linkhart / Dumas Family
    2. Hello John, You might want to track down obituaries for the parents, Lulu and William Linkhart. Since you know the dates and places of their death, you can try locating an obituary through the local libraries in the area. Their obits might list the married names and residences of their daughters. From there, you might be able to locate the daughters today, if they are still alive. Good Luck with your research! 3. Thank you for your note, Donna. My direct families are William McPeak family (to IL from TN ca 1830) which is pretty well researched and Nancy Wood, wife of his son John McPeak. Have never verified parents of Nancy Wood. Research shows very close relationship with family of James E. Wood and his brothers and sisters. Other names of interest are Jesse M. L. Fry and Ephraim Simmons, both married to Louisa Jane McPeak, daughter of John and Nancy; Jarmans, Sawyers and Sextons from NC also are my line.
