    3. In the same office that records the deeds. These are rarely, if ever, microfilmed. This is something you have to do either in person or get someone on-site to do for you. First you find your ancestors names in the General Index, aka Grantor/Grantee Indexes. Note their land descriptions. Next go to the Numerical Index that contains that tract of land. Follow the land instead of the personal names. The numerical indexes are invaluable for finding the heirs, migration paths, and married names of daughters. Good Hunting! 3. There are 2 sites for Land Cemetery...the one I gave earlier and this one: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilmacoup/cemetery/land/index.htm I don't see Sarah listed on either? Or Elizabeth. I do not have any information on the cemetery, other than who donated the records for the sites and who read the tombstones with photos. If the cemetery was walked for recordings and photos, what was found would be online on the complete reading site. Perhaps you could follow through with search for obits/death records, etc. and find where they were buried. 3. Since Land Cemetery is west of Palmyra it would be in Scottville Twp, which borders Barr to the north. Land Cemetery is online at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilmaga/macoupin/cemetery/land.html but I do not see Sarah listed, although there are several Caudle's. Does she have a stone? I would venture to guess that the Rev. was from Gilead Baptist Church in Hettick not too many miles away, probably less than 10. I wonder if there is a history of the Gilead Baptist Church somewhere? I would love to see one. At 08:38 AM 11/4/2006, you wrote: >The reason I am curious is the Obit for Sarah Caudle was preached? [by >memory] Rev. [don't remember his name] at Gilead. "Gilead Cemeteery is just to the northwest of the Baptist Church building down the lane in Hettick Illinois. {Approximate "Goble Postioning System" coordinates are; N 39° 21.655'; W 90° 1.903' }.".
