    3. If I could go back to Blm and search for their homestead records. A couple years ago I was searching for Leonard and Allen Moomey. going thru BLM I searched for Moomey and Caudle and I found C C Caudle and Lawerence [I believe that was his name] found that they had Homesteaded land. C C Caudle Bought cattle and Horses and sheep. I believve C C is in the 1920 census. Since I could not connect them to My Caudle line I did not save their records. I have some info on this Caudle line if you are searching this line I would be willing to share information Paul ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, January 20, 2007 2:44 PM Subject: Re: [ILMACOUP] Fw: Round Prairie Church, Bunker Hill IL > Okay, > > It looks like your Joshua, b. 1770 in NC, d. 2. Okay, It looks like your Joshua, b. 1770 in NC, d. Abt 1850 in Wayne, IL, m. ? 1795 in NC. Buried Panther Creek Cemetery, Scottsville, Macoupin, IL. Some show this Jushua as m. to Elizabeth Green, she b. 1780, d. Dec 1837, buried same as above. Children: Jessie,? William, Dec 1797 Martha, Mar 1800 Isham, Apr 1804 Thomas P., Jan 1811 John, 1815 Joshua D., 1817 Samuel, May 1820 This Samuel [above], son of Joshua, m. 1840 Lucretia Beach and they had 11 children. He m. 2nd to Amy E. Stoddard in 1880, and had one daughter. "History of Wayne Co. IL", published by Globe Pub. Co. Joshua Caudle and son, Thomas, came from Tennessee. The former was peculiar and eccentric, but was a zealous member of the Christian Church. The one below might be Samuel's brother, [another son of Joshua 1770]? Seems that Joshua was a well used name, in this family. I am in North Dakota, so if the person who is looking for Caudle in ND would give more info, I can see what I can find. 3. I grew up about 2 miles from where the Goodnight farm was located. From what I recall, there is not any mention of a Round Prairie Church in the Bunker Hill area. The Goodnight farm is about 1/4 mile north of the Macoupin Co and Madison Co line. As with one-room schools, there could have been a church nearby just over the county line. In looking at the place names of IL (http://hometown.aol.com/illinoygenealogy/myhomepage/writing.html) Round Prairie is listed as being part of Madison Co IL. I'm not sure where Round Prairie was, but the community almost due south of the farm is Prairietown and it's possible that the church could have been located there or in between. 3. Two different teams but my father Al played halfback for Girard high back in the early 30's. He told me that against their arch rival Virden, Girard had driven down to the Virden goal line at the end of the game and the crowd (guess it was in Virden) charged the field, keeping them from running a play to score and win the game and the refs let the clock expire while the crowd was all over the field. Don't know if this is true or just sour grapes but it was either in the '31 or '32 football season. It was supposed to be a JV game and Gillespie showed up with their freshmen/sophmores and Staunton had their varsity team and refused to play the JV squad against Gillespie. In addition, Staunton had a very good team that year and the result was predictable. I don't know how true it was but I always heard that these coal miniing towns in Macoupin were a little loose with their eligibility for players in those days. Some of the players would work in the mines and then show up to play in the football game later. I'm not saying this was true, just what I used to hear when I lived in Gillespie. 1. [ILMACOUP] CNN - Turn family gathering into history lessons
    2. I thought this was a great idea to do with grandchildren, children and even by yourself (write the stories down). CNN - Turn family gathering into history lessons - _http://www.cnn.com/2006/EDUCATION/12/19/family.history/index.html_ (http://www.cnn.com/2006/EDUCATION/12/19/family.history/index.html) My grandmother would bring out her family albums and tell the grand kids stories about the different people. I know this is what lead to my interest in genealogy. Grandma, Rita Emma Wheeler McDermott, was born and raised in Macoupin County, IL. Every child loves some special time with an adult. The kids are listening even if the are rolling their eyes!!! Now it is easy to make copies of old pictures and share. Do you have some old Macoupin County, IL pictures or stories to share with us.
