I am Earliene Kaelin, I have been gathering information on the COPPENBARGER family since the 60's when I went with my mother and aunt as an extra copier. The bug bit and I have been stuck since. Jacob Coppenbarger was born in the lower end of the Shenandoah Valley of Virgina, we are not sure which County, but have found the earliest records in Wythe County. He bought land next in Blount County,TN and as near as we can figure lived there until 1818/1819 at which time he migrated to Illinois. Here he stayed. He married Catherine Snavely in VA. Catherine was the daughter of John Snavely and Elizabeth Musser. We have not found the parents of Jacob to date. Research suggest that they may have been Paul and Katherine Coppenbarger, but no proof establishes this as of yet.
