What township is Long Grove Cemetery in? Milam, perhaps? I'm still seeking the burial date and place of Jennie Bastion Seass Bartlett, who was b. Dubuque 1854, m. George Bartlett Dec 13, 1883, Sullivan, Moultrie Co, Il. The family Bible places her death between Feb 1884 and June 1891. Place is "in the country near Macon," with burial "in the country." Kind people on this list have found some helpful info for me, but Jennie remains elusive. I'm still sure she's buried there, just buried, so to speak. I haven't tracked the right George Bartlett for sure. But he may be the prominent Maconite George G.A. Bartlett who has two wives buried in Long Grove Cemetery. Thy are Bartlett, Isabella wife of G. A. d. Mar 10 1874, aged 34 yrs. 2 mo. 10 days Bartlett, Henrietie, wife of G. A. d. Dec. 9 1882. aged 38 yrs. 3 m. 17 da. Givem this last date of death, a date of remarriage a year later ia possible, especially since the 1880 census shows G.A. and Hattie living in Mliam twp. with several small children. There is a J. A. in Long Grove with no dates . Could be G. A? Or are George and perpaps Jennie with a garbled first name in another cemetery? Jeannie? Jane? But the major question at the moment - is Long Grove Cemetery in Milam twp? Thanks, Doris. -- Dovekeeper@aol.com wrote: I have Macon cemetery inscription volume VII (Is this the one you have, Sweetnikita?) which includes Salem, Mount Gilead, Walnut Grove and Turpin cemeteries. Does anyone happen to have a plat map for Macon County? Generally you can get them free from a local insurance agent. They come out every 10 years or so. It shows who owns the land. Each township is mapped and the land boundaries and land owners are on the map. However, it is also extremely useful for precisely locating cemeteries, understanding where communities and other things are. You can precisely plot directions to a cemetery. Mind you, the cemeteries are not named but if you know the cemetery is in section 7 of township X you can find it easily. Someone who has one of these could be extremely helpful to the list. It doesn't have to be the most recent one because, of course, cemeteries don't move.
