Have you checked with the Warren County and St. Clair County genealogical societies? They are apt to have more current marriage listings. Interesting that their marriage license was part of the Decatur Daily Review since both are from the western part of the state. Perhaps her family was from Macon County originally, or his, and they weren't really married in Macon County. Another guess would be that perhaps they married in Missouri on the other side of the river???? Without contacting each of the counties individually to see if they have the license (Macon, St. Clair and Warren), I would think that you won't have much luck in locating the marriage info. If you strike out in all three counties, then I'd look across the river. It's still too early to obtain the info out of other records yet. Jane G.
The Decatur paper publishes marriage licenses issued in Macon County -- at least during my lifetime. Lots of times the people aren't from Macon County. Who knows why they came to Decatur to get married? I'd say if it was in the marriage license section it was issued in Macon County. If it was in the gossip, er, society section then it's up for grabs. I thought she was referring to the marriage license listings. In any event, going through the Decatur Genealogical Society is an excellent suggestion.
