I tried doing some lookups on this, too. I couldn't even find a Sarah Ray on the 1900 census living in Decatur on Jackson St. Are my notes wrong? I did find a Sadie Ray, divorced, from Indiana, living with her brother Albert (Sexton? Sefton?) From what I could tell they may have lived on Jefferson St. I didn't take down notes on this entry because I didn't think this was your Sarah. If you can send me the page number you have for your 1900 Sarah Ray it may help. In the 1900 census it states she was divorced. She came from Indiana, and she was the only member of the family to move to Illinois, so thinking her husband was also in Indiana then they moved to Illinois, but not sure since I can't find a marriage record yet.
