    2. Helen, you have a picture of the Lighthouse? That's where my mother worked from the time she was a young girl until she married a a handsome young man she met at the Lighthouse, a young man who became a Navy pilot in World War II and then a Marine Pilot in the Korean Conflict. He served with Ed McMahon. Of course, it was my dad! My mother once made one of her younger sisters take off her new pair of shoes and walk home from the Lighthouse because she came there dressed in my mother's new dress and shoes (before she even got to wear them!). Mother said it was in the dead of winter too! I would love to have a picture of the Lighthouse. I too went there as a young girl and visited with Henry Bowder. The ice skating rink used to be in Fairview Park where we fed the ducks and bears too. Scovil Gardens was on the other side of the lake. We used to love going to the Avon and Lincoln Theatre, but couldn't afford to go many times. We went to Decatur to sell eggs, vegetables from the garden and visit our grandparents after we went to Piggly Wiggly. (I babysat four brothers and sisters in the car while Mother went in and sold her eggs.) It's really funny thinking about those times and for the first time comparing them to my greatgrandfather who had a huckster wagon business (3 wagons and a warehouse) in Blue Mound. He lived on our family farm 2 miles west of Boody. Mother then bought and ran the Mayview Cafe in Boody after Dad died. I worked there from the age of 12 for Guy and Anna Bocock until I was about 17. Then moved up in the world to the Colonial Restaurant. Yes, the buses still run, but they seem to always be going north. I love driving down by the Transfer House. Some of my favorite history photos are of the Transfer House in the good ol' days. I even have a charm on one of my old charm bracelets of the Transfer House. If you could send me a copy of the picture of the Lighthouse, I would be so appreciative. I often think of you in Idaho and wonder if the snow is still as beautiful as it was the three years we were stationed in Idaho Falls. I was hoping to see some snow here in Walters, Oklahoma, where we just moved, but no such luck yet. Lots of rain this week, but almost 60 degrees. Thanks for the memories everyone. 3. Jane, I'd forgotten all about Fairview Park and feeding the ducks ... did it many-a-time! Wasn't there an Abe Lincoln cabin there too? Also, can still "see" the old Piggly-Wiggly (we did our Saturday shopping there every week.) My Great Aunt & Uncle (Frank & Nellie GREEN) owned/ran the Boody Post Office where they also had a little gas station and grocery store. Wasn't that across the road from the restaurant you write about? I loved going to the Colonial Restaurant. It was a place where we went for those "special occasions."
