    2. Julie Lofurno
    3. Susan, I just posted a message to the list that I found W. Baynham in San Francisco, California of all places. Thanks for your idea to look in the Ill. Statewide Death Index....when I did not find Baynham there, it got me to thinking and checking other state death indexes and luckily California was the 2nd one I checked. 2. Julie Lofurno
    3. Can anyone help me find the obituary or information from any death index for W. BAYNHAM CASH who was born May 1890 in Connecticut and died January 5, 1943. His family was from Decatur, Illinois and I am reasonably certain that's where he died. The "W." may stand for William, but he was called W. Baynham or just Baynham. Thanks for any help. 2. Julie Lofurno
    3. I am trying to locate some type of death record or, better yet, the obituary for a family member named W. Baynham Cash who was born May, 1890 and died January 5, 1943. I am reasonably certain he died in Decatur, Illinois. I do not know what the "W" stands for, but suspect it is William because he had an uncle named William Baynham Cash. That being said, he was always known as "W. Baynham". Thank you for any help. Julie --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! SiteBuilder - Free, easy-to-use web site design software

    1. [ILMACON] Pre 1916 Death Index
    2. Cheryl Rothwell
    3. The Statewide Pre 1916 Death Index is now online. Unfortunately, very few counties are done. To see what is available go to: http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/archives/deathlst.html Keep in mind that this is a volunteer effort and it is going to take some time to get it all done. Also, death certificates are erratic before 1916. Some people got them and some didn't. There doesn't seem to be any logic to who did and who didn't. 3. Appreciate your offer to help! Thought I was going to have to be "eating crow" here pretty soon since I just found a name in my line that seemed awfully close to Hiser. The name is Andrew Hesser & daughter Catherine (b. 1815). This follows the line of my ancestor's 2nd husband, Andrew Fleming. Catherine is his mother. My ancestor is (Mrs.) Malinda (Nee ??) Litchfield Fleming and is my so-called brick wall because I cannot find her maiden name anywhere. We've located & visited her grave but even the cemetery does not have her maiden name. Will have to try to obtain a death certificate, though California law now makes it next to impossible to obtain. Still it may very well be worth the effort. 2. The site is good but if people can they need to go search the county they think the family was in. We have four land records that do not show up and just found another last week.

    3. The Bureau of Land Management site seems to be back up at: http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/ "We provide live access to Federal land conveyance records for the Public Land States. We also provide image access to more than two million Federal land title records for Eastern Public Land States, issued between 1820 and 1908." These are records of the ORIGINAL purchase of land from the federal government. It has been up and down a lot in the last couple years due to a court battle. There is always the possibility that it will be taken down permanently. It seems unlikely to me but with the courts you never know. With that in mind you might want to move finding the original land record for your ancestors up on your to do list. Thanks to Dot for the heads up. 3. Unfortunately, your message was sent to the wrong mail box. I am researching JOSHUA BARRICK, daughter ELIZABETH ARMENTA (possibly Arimenta or Armienta) of Blue Mound, Macon County, Illinois and ELizabeth's husband FRANK MORRIS LITCHFIELD, b. Lawrence, Kansas in 1869. But I would love to hear from you if you have any suggestions for my "brick wall" - Frank Morris Litchfield. Need to find his father's name and his mother's maiden name. His mother was Malinda Litchfield Fleming, b. 1853 in Porter County Indiana. Fleming was her second husband.
