    1. [ILMACON] Available Military Records
    2. Cheryl Rothwell
    3. I recently contacted the National Personnel Records Center online at http://vetrecs.archives.gov to see what military records they had for my late husband and to see how it worked. They had none for him. They had me fill out some forms and send what I had which I did. They replied that his records would have been in the area that was destroyed by fire on July 12, 1973, which destroyed the major portion of Army records from 1912-1959 and Air Force records from Hubbard through Z for 1947-1963. They went on to say that in many cases there are alternate record sources which contain information but in my case I had more information that they did. It appears, however, that they DO have records for Navy, Marines, pre 1912 and post 1959 Army, post 1963 Air Force. Army Air Corps was filed in Army. If that is what you are seeking you might want to try this resource. 3. The Decatur paper publishes marriage licenses issued in Macon County -- at least during my lifetime. Lots of times the people aren't from Macon County. Who knows why they came to Decatur to get married? I'd say if it was in the marriage license section it was issued in Macon County. If it was in the gossip, er, society section then it's up for grabs. I thought she was referring to the marriage license listings. In any event, going through the Decatur Genealogical Society is an excellent suggestion. They are apt to have more current marriage listings. Interesting that their marriage license was part of the Decatur Daily Review since both are from the western part of the state. Perhaps her family was from Macon County originally, or his, and they weren't really married in Macon County. Another guess would be that perhaps they married in Missouri on the other side of the river???? Without contacting each of the counties individually to see if they have the license (Macon, St. Clair and Warren), I would think that you won't have much luck in locating the marriage info. If you strike out in all three counties, then I'd look across the river. It's still too early to obtain the info out of other records yet. 2. In Macon County, some of the licenses have both sides and will send them; however, some years the otherside was not completed. The Decatur Genealogical Society can tell you which years have all the info on the certificates. The fee will be a modest fee if you get the DGS to help you pull the license. Check out their site. 3. I received a Death Certificate from Piatt county, Illinois for a William Williamson born 2-29-1848....Covington co., Kentucky, died August 24, 1917, Sangamon twnshp., Piatt co., Illinois. I am not too sure this belongs to MY William Frank Williamson who married first Rebecca Mooney and after her death to Harriett Harvell in Piatt co The death certificate does not mention either wife's name. I was under the impression that MY William Frank Williamson was born in Ohio in 1840. The informatnt is listed as a Mrs. Edith Hart of Clinton, DeWitt co., Illinois. This name is not familiar to me. Can anyone shed any light on these names. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do next, Piatt co. says this is the only death certificate they have under this name. Thanks for any clues, Marie
