In 1850 it looks like they were English speakers tryng to record German names given to them by people with serious German accents. Stoll = Stull First name in Erhard's case = A for Airhart! Mayer = Myer Here are my Erhard Stoll Census Transcriptions [With additions]: I realize you know most of this but it's a simple cut and paste from my notes: >From Wurtemberg Immigration Index: Stoll, Erhard & F Birth Date: Birth Place: Maisenbach District: Neuenbürg Application Date: Feb 1847 Destination: N.-Amer Number: 838502.00 LDS FHL Microfilm According to George Irwin's World Family Tree Vol 2 Tree # 5460: Erhardt came to the United States in 1847.
