Go to the main page of the Logan web site and click on "Logan Township and Section Map." It will take you a map which shows Townships and Sections and you will find Sheridan Township. It is Township 20 North, Range 4 West. A township is not a community. It is an area of land [in Illinois] approximately six miles square or 36 square miles. There are variations. The township is used to locate land and is used in land/real estate descriptions outside of cities. Historically this method was set up for the Northwest Territory. I don't think there were any towns in Sheridan Township. Burton used to be on the border.
