Does anyone know how I could find out more information about a possible ancestor that I found on the muster rolls for the Black Hawk War? There is a John Williams listed as a private under Col. Elkins and I wonder if there is some "enlistment" record that they needed to fill out that would list their next of kin, age, and other personal information. Hope someone can help.
