Greetings! Most Hoblits probably invested money in the Hoblit Seed Farms (still in operation under that name, but no longer owned by the family) in Atlanta. My husband's direct ancestor, John Hoblit who married Mellicent Seward was one of the first Hoblits in that area as he and his brother-in-law (I think that was the relationship), Timothy Bennett, were some of the first from that family to check out that area. John Hoblit is on the 1850 census for Mt. Pulaski Twp., Logan Co., IL and on the 1860 census for Atlanta, Logan Co., IL. Logan Co. originally was part of Sangamon Co. - was it until late 1840's? - should show on the GenWeb site, I should think. I do have some info that a John Hoblit, who married a Mary Pogue, and Mary were buried in Lucas Chapel Cem. That John is descended from Boston (Sebastian) Hoblit, so possibly your ancestor was related to the Boston Hoblit branch. Boston was a brother to my husband's ancestor, John. Have nothing further on the Lucas bit - sorry! Good Luck! Marlyn Duff New Berlin, WI MJD62@aol.com
