Hi! I have no idea as to how Roach Cemetery ended up with that name - a Hoblit donated the original land for it, I was told. It used to be called Roach Chapel Cemetery when we first checked it out a number of years ago - John Hoblit and Mellicent Seward, two of my husband's ancestors are buried there. It is a very old cemetery - one has to travel there via gravel roads - yet is has been maintained quite well. Generally, I think I would check for your Roach name, if from that area, in the Atlanta portion of Logan Co. - or even DeWitt Co., as it just about borders that area. Wish that I could tell you more! Have been told that there is a small library in Atlanta, IL - and that the elderly lady/ladies who staff the library know a wealth of info and are very nice. I personally have not visited there, but a fellow family researcher mentioned it to me. Possibly they might know something about the Roach name. Good Luck! Marlyn Duff
