I don't know if any of your research is affect by this but the government took quite a lot of land between Mt. Pulaski and Illiopolis to build the 'war plant' during WWII. After the war they apparently quit claimed some of it back -- perhaps for the same amount they purchased it for altho that is not clear. We always referred to it as the 'war plant' but its official name was Sangamon Ordinance Plant. If you drive the Illiopolis-Mt. Pulaski blacktop you can still see evidence of this installation.
