HI Everyone, I have had some small break-throughs on my lines in Logan county, but they lead to more questions. I have been corresponding with a relative of the Scully family who is in Tipperary, Ireland. He said that they have wondered the same questions we have in our lines. One of the main questions is what was the link (if any) between the Hickey family and the Scully family. John Hickey and his wife lived in the 'big white house' with William Scully in Illinois. John Hickey and his brother William Hickey both helped bring immigrants to work the Scully lands. John & William Hickey's mother's maiden name was Mary Maher. There was a Mary Maher that was an ancestor of William Scully. We aren't sure if the two Mahers are connected or not. James Hickey (husband of Mary Maher & father of John & William Hickey) came to Illinois after the death of Mary. There was a James Hickey living on the Scully lands in Tipperary prior to the time that James would have immigrated. There are also a lot of Mohan (Mowen) marriages in the Hickey lines. Does anyone know of the 'white house' that would have been the Scully home around the early 1850s? Thank you for any ideas or information.
