I don't even know if there is anyone on this list who is actually in Logan County but I'm stuck and I think obits would be really helpful. I've been able to trace back our COFFMAN roots as far back as John and Christena Ryse BRINING (Christonah according to the Atlanta Cemetery Index) from somewhere in Germany born approx 1803). An 1850 Logan county census indicates that John was born somewhere in PA and by his age I can guess that he was born 1796 or 1796. He died September 25 1874 (apparently only a few years to early to have the benefit of a death certificate) and his wife died February 15, 1878. Both were buried in the Atlanta Cemetery in Logan co which apparently does not have anyone on site to call. I'm hoping that an obit might mention where in PA he was born and with a little MORE luck maybe it will even narrow down his date of birth.
