The Sangamon County Genealogical Society board will host an an open house at the society office at 2856 S. 11th St. in Springfield on Saturday November 13, 1999 from 10 am to 3 pm. We will be providing research assistance and will offer our publications for sale the day of the open house. We presently have two microfiche readers and two microfilm readers to use that day. We have the state wide marriage index (1821-1900 for Sangamon County), the death record index (1916-194?) the 1881 History of Sangamon County and an index to the Genealogical Helper Magazine all on microfiche. There are records for birth (1878-1883) including a few records prior to 1878, please be sure to refer to our first birth record book for details about those early birth records, also available that day will be marriage (1821-1899), deaths (1878-1890) and deed records (1822-1832) on microfilm which can be viewed and transcribed but not printed as our machines do not have that capability.
