I recall that when I was in grade school in Logan County (1941-49), county Superintendent of Schools E.H. Luckenbill led a campaign to have students raise funds to "restore" the Postville Courthouse. I do not know why it was originally sold to Henry Ford, but the restoration campaign was definitely led by those with a historical perspective. Mr. Luckenbill was a long-time superindendent and a Lincoln Scholar. There is probably press coverage in the Lincoln Courier of that period, and perhaps in the library collections at Lincoln College. Prof. Paul Beaver, now retired, headed the Lincoln Collection for many years.
