The Sangamon County Genealogical Society will hold a Research Day on Saturday, September 8 from 9 am to 1 pm at the society's office, 2856 South 11th St., Springfield, Illinois. The office is located three blocks north of Stevenson Drive on the corner of 11th Street and Knox and three blocks south of Bunn Park on 11th Street. Members of the society's board and volunteers will be available to answer research questions throughout the day. Family history materials from the society's library are available for all to view including microfilmed copies of birth (1877-1916), marriage (1821-1925) and death certificates (1877-1940s) for Sangamon County. Surname and obituary files, Auburn Citizen (1874-1965) for which there is also an obituary index from 1874-1899, and other area newspaper microfilms which are available to view at the office. Discover the treasure trove of printed materials which the society has been collecting over many years. Our publications also will be available for sale Saturday.
