It will have a photo of Laughery School, plus a couple stories from former students. We are hoping to have the book completed by the end of this year. It can be pre-ordered at the Society. Bill Detmers Bill: Did anyone tell the story of the fence at Laughery school? It basically had concrete posts and pipe hand and centerails all around the property. We kids could speak into the pipe at the front of the school, and be heard at the rear of the property where the fence terminated near the outdoor toilets. We carried lunch boxes during the Summer, but had hot lunches in the basement in the Winter. We used the wax paper from our lunch boxes to sit on, to make the slide faster. We also had to hold up either one or two fingers when we wanted to go to the outside privy. Two fingers generally always got you permission to go! JOHN WILHAM
