I just couldn't stand it. <g> I did a search of the New York Genealogical and Biographical Record Index for 1870-1998. The Vandevenders/Vandeventers in Logan County came through New Amsterdam [New York] originally, then to Virginia, Tennessee and up through southern Illinois to Logan County by 1828. There are absolutely no Vandevenders in that index, plenty of Vandeventers. This leads me to suspect that Vandeventer is the original spelling, actually Van Deventer. At some point in time it became Vandeventer and then, for some, Vandevender. I also believe I have found the connection between Anna Vandeventer who married John Buckles and the Vandevenders we were discussing earlier. I will be putting this all together at a later date and I will share it. Now I can get back to what I was doing.
