"Dalton teaches such." I'm pretty sure this is your Jacob Hammon. I looked through lots of issues and this was all there was except for the notice of his Probate: Lincoln Herald Dec 23, 1875 (roll #237B..for both) County Court: The probate business of the December term has, thus far, been as follows: The will of Jacob Hammon was brought up for proof, but one of the witnesses being sick and unable to attend, Wm.H. Daniels was authorized to take her evidence and the cause was continued. I also looked for obits on Jane Allen 5/13/1867 Mary Allen 11/12/1867..Mary Harmmon 1867... And I couldn't find any mention. The issue that Mary Allen's obit would have likely been in ..someone had cut out a big hunk of newspaper below where the weddings were.. so I figure they cut out the deaths. ...I looked all around the dates for a hidden tibit, but wasn't lucky on them. At the library the oldest date on a Newspaper was april 1859. (And that is just issues here and there..lots missing). While searching I found this little note for you: Lincoln Herald June 8, 1859... MARRIED: At the house of the bride's father, Logan, County, IL , June 5th, by Rev. S. Shinn, Mr. Enoch Preston and Miss Sarah J. Hammon. That's all I found. Hope it helps. BY THE WAY: One reason I do look-ups now and then is because I stumble onto my own missing pieces, while looking for your info today I found a divorce degree and a obit of 2 of my ancestors that I've been hunting for, but had no firm date to know where to start...SO it pays off everyone to help out each other!
