Those "tidbits" made him seem more real; I was beginning to think he was a mirage! It is just so unfortunate that he died only two years before death certs were required! I forgot to thank you for the Preston/Hammon marriage; that poor lady was married three times, burying all those husbands. I have the marriage records for two of them, but didn't think to look for news articles. I guess I'm getting too close to the situation and have to back off and take a deep breath. I emailed Lincoln Library/ (Lincoln, IL) asking how those were filmed; I'll share the answer if/when it's received. I think we can all benefit from knowing the answer. I know my library does there own filming; if a patron chose to cut something out that day, there'd definitely be a hole. If another area library also filmed that same paper, an option is then available. It can't hurt to nail it down. I'm still curious to see if the 1867 deaths for Mary Allen, Mary Hammon and Jane Allen show up on the index LCGHS has; maybe I confused the issue asking you and Bill to do things in the same posting. I'll contact them tomorrow or Wednesday, as there are things I need to order, anyway. Again, thanks for all you have done. You've gone above and beyond what even a genangel does.
