Constructed of hewn logs. First house: built by John Sutton..log structure faced old park...was both house and first hotel in Postville. First store: erected by Ackman and Rankin...hewn logs. First post office: established in 1840. James Primm first postmaster. First church association: Postville Methodist church, 1841. Meeting held in Postville courthouse, by Reverand Samuel Martin.
