In Logan county after the courthouse burned, property owners were to bring in copies of their deads and re-record them along with proving they had paid that year's taxes. I have a feeling that those that didn't had notices and if they didn't appear, the sheriff went after the property. It was also custom to for a number of years to list those who hadn't paid their taxes. I know I was run across a number of those lists in the Mason County Democrat.
