Joan, Logan county probably has only a couple of title companies that work locally (and they all work with and know each other). So you might try the yellow pages and simply get on the phone and tell them you are on a genealogy quest - not an accquition type request. Then see what they tell you. In the ole dazes a title company gave to you a complete file on a piece of property with a copy of all transactions back 50 to 100 years (depending on the state laws). These days they give you one page description of the property and opinion as to whether they will insure the title and what the premium will be. The good news is, they know the records and know how to search a property and can do the job much much faster (cheaper) and accurately than you can probably do. Another alternative to consider in Logan Co is to contract with the Historical Society to find the info for you. They use the funds they raise to support the mission of the society and their rates are more than reasonable.
