    3. Yes, there is a note to that effect on the Long Island web site. I'm wondering how many calculated birth dates there are in accepted records from before this was proven to be a wonky method...like DAR, old NEGHS and NYGBRs, maybe even TAG. I confess it did not occur to me that the STONECUTTER would be the person doing the calculating, not that he was necessarily any worse than some of the other options... Cheryl

I'm not sure how far back the 8870 thing goes, but my view is that any calculated date is suspect - for the simple reason one can never know which of the several methods for determining the age of an individual was used. And any calculated date should be so labeled.     3. Dick -- But we don't know if it is calculated because in the "good old days" they didn't label it so we could be passing on bad info despite our best efforts. We are probably even citing that tombstone.
