    3. I've tried that route! Nothing. And on my g.grandma's death certificate - my grandfather didn't even know his 'stepmother (I guess)maiden name or her parents. Well, I think I will try calling county clerk and see what they tell me. The judge may have determined the mom didn't have the right to the kid since she wasn't married, etc. so her permission was not needed. 1889 - there MIGHT be a birth certificate.
